Mars Petcare U.S. has selected Fort Smith, Arkansas as the home for their new manufacturing plant.  Mars Petcare U.S. is owned by Mars, Incorporated, and is that companies pet food manufacturer. 

The new manufacturing plant will produce the company’s Canine Cuisine products for small dogs.  The plant will double Mars Petcare U.S.’s production.  Around 200 new jobs are expected to be created.

Doug Cahill, president of Mars Petcare U.S., is excited about the move, saying, “Fort Smith is a great community for out new facility,”.  He also said, “We are excited about our future in Fort Smith and look forward to becoming an active member of the community and a contributor to the Fort Smith economy.”

The facility is expected to begin production by April 2009.
