Tucson, Arizona will be the home of a new secure passport production center. Stanley, Inc., a provider of systems intergration and professional services to the government, will build and manage the facility.
The facility was announced in early December, with construction scheduled to start shortly thereafter. Production is scheduled to begin this spring. The plant will require over 150 new employees over the next year.
Passports will be constructed and mailed from the new facility. Demand for US passports is very high, with more than 18 millions passports produced last year. The US Government recently opened a passport production facility in Arkansas as well to meet the increased need.
