Tucson MSA (Pima County) was ranked the #1 mid-sized county in the country for business recruitment & attraction (Expansion Management, June 2007)
July 2007 - Fast Company magazine named Tucson among the top 10 in the United States for job growth and high-tech industry concentration. “Welcome to ‘Optics Valley,’ home to 160 mostly small outfits, such as All Optronics and 4D Technology, focused on optical design and engineering, fiber-optic components, and precision optical fabrication. Life sciences, environmental technologies, and aerospace are booming too.”

Target has broken ground January 10th on its new fulfillment center the Target.com division, and the center will serve the nation. It’s not clear at this point how many full time jobs will be added to the community.
It was announced in mid December 2007 that Stanley would build and manage a new passport production center in Tucson, eventually employing between 120 and 150 full time employees.
