Econcomic development news for Detroit from recent months includes:

Quicken Loans announced late last fall that it would be relocatintg its headquarters to downtown Detroit.  The move will take place over the next two or three years and will bring an estimated 4,000 jobs to the Detroit market.

Dearborn Group Inc.  is expanding their operations in Farmington Hills, a suburb of Detroit.  The company manufactures in-vehicle networking products to a variety of applications.  The expansion is expected to create 61 new jobs at Dearborn Group, with up to 84 new jobs created indirectly in the community.

The state of Michigan has offered Chrysler a large tax credit to expand its Jefferson North Assembly Plant in Detroit.  The 12-year abatement would be worth around $40.2 million.  The expansion would create and retain over 1,400 jobs in the community.

Michigan has offered a $10 million dollar tax credit to support a major expansion of the Marathon Petroleum Co. LLC refinery in southwest Detroit.  The expansion would increase the refinery’s capacity by 15 percent and would create 135 new jobs.
