Economic development updates for Jacksonville covering recent months include:
The Mayo Clinic Jacksonville is expanding their neurosciences department. The $30 million dollar expansion will facilitate the hiring of up to 40 new employees, including physicians, physician trainees and allied health staff.
L-3 Communication Holdings, Boeing and Alenia have promised to build the new C-27J cargo aircraft for the military in Jacksonville. The aircraft will be manufactured on Cecil Field. It is unclear when actual production of the aircraft will take place, but the desicion will be a huge boon for the region’s aviation industry.
Hanjin, Korea’s largest container carrier, is opening a 170-acre shipping terminal in Jacksonville. The Hanjin Shipping Terminal will begin operations in 2011.
