Economic development updates for Philadelphia covering recent months include:
PennShip Services LLC, a ship-repair yard, opened for business this week. The new company has a lease on a dry dock next to the Aker Philadelphia Shipyard. Over 100 new jobs will be created before the year’s end, with over 300 jobs anticipated by 2010.
Tasty Baking Company recently began construction on a new facility in Philadelphia. The company will relocate their corporate headquarters and Philadelphia operations to the new center, which is scheduled to open in late 2009.
AgustaWestland, a helicopter manufacturer, recently opened a new assembly line at their Philadelphia operation. The new assembly line will assemble engines for the company and will employ 500 people by the end of 2008.
