Economic development updates for Buffalo covering recent months include:

SmartPill Corp., a Buffalo-based company that manufacturers an ingestible wireless medical sensor, is relocating their manufacturing facilities from California to Buffalo.  The move, which should be completed by November of this year, will create an undetermined number of new jobs.

The Globe Metallurgical plant in Buffalo will reopen, possibly by the end of this year.  Full production capacity is not expected to be reached until 2011.  The plant will produce silicon products for the solar power industry and will employ over 500 people within three years.
