The July issue of Multifamily Executive has a couple of interesting pieces of information tucked away that are of interest to emerging market investors.

One of their features articles in this issue is a look at five rising, under-40 multifamily execs.  One of them, Eric Garrett, is the development director for Indianapolis based multifamily developer SC Bodner.

In the article Garrett lists his four favorite development markets, for many of the same reasons that emerging market investors are interested in markets.  Those markets are -

  • Oklahoma City
  • Raleigh
  • Mobile (we’re not as in love with Mobile),
  • The Texas Big Four – San Antonio, Houston, Austin, and Dallas

Interestingly all are ranked very highly in our ratings again this month; good fundamentals are good fundamentals.

Multifamily Executive also lists what they consider to be their top dozen markets for the year (this month the featured market is Kansas City), and it should be noted these markets are not necessarily evaluated in terms of emerging market potential.  It’s interesting to take a look nonetheless –

  • Raleigh
  • Houston
  • Huntsville
  • Lexington/ Louisville
  • Seattle
  • Orlando
  • Kansas City
  • Colorado Springs
  • Philadelphia
  • Columbus (OH)
  • San Antonio
  • San Francisco

With the exceptions of Seattle, Philadelphia, Columbus, and Frisco, there are markets in this list of interest to the emerging market investor.  Good fundamentals win again.
