Economic development updates for Killeen covering recent months include:
High Performance Ropes of America, a rope manufacturing company from Mexico, is opening a manufacturing plant in nearby Belton. The plant will produce wire ropes used in elevators, mining and industrial lifting. Approximately 145 new jobs will be created.
A Zero-emission Energy Recycling Oxidation System (ZEROS) power plant is coming to Killeen. When the plant becomes operational in 2011, it will produce 50 megawatts of electricity. The plant will harness energy from the chemical breakdown of organic wastes. When the plant is built, it will be the first of its kind in the world. More than 200 new jobs will be created by the ZEROS plant.
