Recent Economic Development Updates for Peoria include:
The community’s standing improved this year (Sept. ’08) in the Milken Institute’s ranking of America’s Top-Performing Cities. The Peoria MSA moved up from #68 in the 2007 report to #43 in 2008 among the top 200 large USA cities, a jump of 25 places. In Inc. Magazine’s Best Cities to do Business ranking, (also Sept. ’08) Peoria improved among the midsized cities by moving up 46 places to #21.
This past summer the Illinois State Treasurer cut interest rates for Green businesses. The treasurer’s office will secure below-market interest rates for borrowers who finance purchase or installation of energy efficient and renewable energy equipment with participating lenders. This one-year pilot program is designed to encourage energy efficient development and improvements in the state.
