Today we will continue with the same topic started in yesterday’s Daily Data Discussion post – looking today at the worst markets in our proprietary Single Family Market Fundamentals Demographic Subscore rankings.

We had several questions yesterday as to the sourcing of our data; we rely on a variety of sources for the information.  Sources typically utilized include the US Census Bureau, various state and local demographic databases when available, as well as various university research centers that track the information.

Our research team has also developed an internal algorithm to project population growth a couple of years into the future; we are currently comparing population growth rates in markets from 2000-2004 with growth from 2005-2009 (real and projected).  Beginning in January we’ll compare growth rates from 2001-2005 with 2006 – 2010.

Here are the markets in our database as of today with the lowest Single Family Market Fundamentals Demographic Subscore rankings –

1.  Cheyenne, WY  14
2.  Duluth, MN   15
3.  Rochester, MN  15
4.  Redding, CA   15
