In today’s Daily Data Discussion post let’s shift gears yet again and take a look at total non farm job growth. 

Not to be overly repetitive for our regular readers – we track the total non farm job growth rates (annualized) reported monthly by the BLS and track a 6-month rolling average of the information for ranking purposes.  We’ve explained in prior posts (and in every issue of our newsletter The Emerging Market Report) the benefits of using the 6-month rolling average view. 

Here are the best markets in our database as of today ranked for total non farm job growth (6-month rolling average) –

1) Grand Junction, CO  4.9%
2) Jacksonville, NC  4.4%
3) Odessa, TX   3.9%
4) Casper, WY   3.6%
5) KRP, WA   3.5%

Database Average:  1.0%
Database Median:  0.9%

Here are the worst markets in our database as of today ranked for total non farm job growth (6-month rolling average) –

1) Flint, MI   -5.6%
2) Cape Coral, FL  -5%
3) Naples, FL   -4.3%
4) Detroit, MI   -3.2%
5) Sarasota, FL   -3.1%
