Just as noted below, we’re late today with the State by State Unemployment Rate rankings today.
Based on data through November of 2008, BLS has released today state by state U3 unemployment numbers. Click here for our free PDF ranking the states by the 6-month rolling average of their U3 unemployment, and a look at the month to month trend of the November data.
The top five states this month are unchanged now for the third month in a row – the top five are South Dakota, Wyoming, North Dakota, Nebraska, and Utah.
Identically to the employment data reviewed in the post below, unemployment numbers improved at the state level in only five states, and was unchanged in only eight. That leaves 37 states with worsening unemployment numbers (at the state level) in November.
November unemployment is pushing 9% in California and 10% in Rhode Island and Michigan. There’s another ouch.
We’ll have more to say about the data over the weekend.
